TerrifiCon is dedicated to giving comic book fans the chance to hear how their favorite stories came to be. In the past we had the creative teams behind such epics as Marvel's Secret Wars, DC's The Death of Superman, 30 Years of Writing Spider-Man, Denny O'Neil and Klaus Janson discussing the Dark Knight and more. This year we continue that tradition with panels featuring top industry writers and artists. Here's some of what we have planned this year and where the fans can find out the secrets behind classic comics and more!

UNTAMED: THE PSYCHOLOGY OF MARVEL'S WOLVERINE
with Dr. Suzana E. Flores and Roy Thomas (Saturday)
Wolverine. Logan. Weapon X. By any name, Marvel Comic's savage, brooding antihero is, in his own words, the best at what he does--killing with gratuitous precision. Paradoxically violent yet humane, the beer-swilling, cigar-smoking mutant with retractable claws is universally misjudged in the Marvel Universe yet esteemed by fans worldwide. Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Suzana Flores explores Wolverine's development from bit character to modern legend over more than four decades, with a focus on his enduring appeal as an allegory for resilience through torment.
ABOUT THE PANELIST:
Dr. Suzana E. Flores is a TEDx speaker, clinical psychologist, and author of Untamed: The Psychology of Marvel's Wolverine(McFarland Publishing) and Facehooked: How Facebook Affects Our Emotions, Relationships, and Lives. (Reputation Books) with international book deals in South Korea and Poland. In her newest book, UNTAMED, Dr. Flores interviewed famed Wolverine and X-Men writers and illustrators including: Roy Thomas, Len Wein, John Romita Sr., John Romita Jr., Joe Rubinstein, Adam Kubert and Paul Jenkins among others. For the first time ever, Dr. Flores has provided comic book fans with an exploration of Marvel's most famous and feisty mutant through a psychological lens.
As a psychological expert and commentator, Dr. Flores has appeared on national and international newscasts, podcasts, radio and talk shows including: The Howard Stern Network, PBS, Al Jazeera, WCIU Channel - "The U," National Public Radio (NPR), WGN Radio Chicago, Univision Television News, Mundo FOX, Charlotte News WSOC-TV and radio broadcasts out of Germany, U.K. and Canada.
